Second Nazareth has several ministries that provide mission opportunities for its members.
The Senior Missionary Society is the oldest of the mission circles. Its purposes include serving bereaved families, visiting the sick, supporting the church financially. They donate food, wish list items and money to several homeless shelters in the Columbia area. Some of their activities include a fellowship prayer breakfast and a Salute-to-Teens.
Mission opportunities for ladies ages 18 to 45 are provided through The Young Woman’s Auxiliary. With the aim to carry the gospel to every person, the YWA joins with the Gethsemane Baptist Association in hosting a monthly breakfast for the homeless and an annual outdoor revival. The Young Woman's Auxiliary also sponsors an annual Parents' Appreciation Banquet for church members and supports Vacation Bible School through the preparation and serving of a delicious meal.
The Junior Missionary Society nurtures the mission maturity of the youth of the church. Its purpose includes developing young disciples for Christ through Bible study, worship and community outreach. The Junior Missionaries support the programs of the General Mission Board as well as the various activities of the Gethsemane Baptist Association and the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina. They also sponsor an Easter season prayer breakfast.
The Annie Myers Missionary Circle offers another avenue for service to the Second Nazareth family and the community. This circle provides personal, spiritual and social services to members of the church and in the community. It also promotes evangelism. The Annie Myers Missionary Circle provides monthly visits to Walters Retirement Home and volunteers at Delta House After School Home Work Center. They also minister to the sick and shut-in members through phone calls, visits and monetary gifts.
To spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in service to others is the purpose of The Jones McClerklin Missionary Circle. Service projects include monthly visits to Westside Nursing Home where they host birthday parties and a Christmas celebration; monthly contact with sick and shut-in of the church; a valentine social for youth of the church; a prayer breakfast at Easter; partners with Sunday School for Easter Egg Hunt; sponsor Standardized Testing Awareness Program that informs parents of the dates and requirements for academic testing; present remembrances for Father's Day and Mother's Day; and the preparation of “care packages” for members away in college. The Jones McClerklin Missionary Circle also coordinates the floral arrangements for the pulpit.
The Great Commission drives the purpose of The Bowman Alston Missionary Circle. Mission activities include hosting Project Angel Tree of the Prison Ministry and hosting monthly birthday celebration for residents of Heartland Nursing Center. Formerly, the Bowman Alston Missionary Circle provided weekly snacks for after school program at Bethlehem Community Center; hosted an Easter Celebration, a cookout in July, a Thanksgiving dinner, and Christmas fruit baskets for the residents of Rose Hill Manor, a community mental health facility; donated items to the School Improvement Council of Sanders Middle School; donated household products and gift cards to Lutheran Family Services for the Bantu Refugee Program.
The Brotherhood Club is the mission ministry for the men of the church. Through the donations of Thanksgiving baskets and a scholarship they serve both the young and the seniors of our church family. The Brotherhood Club manages the videotape ministry of the church. The club is affiliated with the Citywide Brotherhood.
The Jubilee Choir provides shape-note music during worship services and may provide music for other church-related activities. The choir is a founding member of the City Baptist Jubilee Choir Union.
Vocal music with instrument accompaniment is provided by The Musical Choir during worship and special services.
Youth participate in the music ministry of the church through The WM Bowman Youth Choir. The choir provides music during morning worship service and upon request, at special events.
The New Vision Praise Team enhances the devotional period prior to worship services and, upon request, at special events.
The musical fellowship venue for the men of the church is The Male Chorus. The chorus presently shares in worship services on the fifth Sunday.

Members of The Senior Ushers’ Ministry serve as doorkeepers during worship and special services and support other activities of the church financially and spiritually. This ministry is a founding member of the Capital City Ushers’ Ministry.
Young adults and children desiring to serve as ushers serve through the Junior Ushers' Ministry two Sundays each month.
The Benevolent Club, the Progressive Club and the Willing Workers’ Club are fundraising auxiliaries of the church. Promoting Christian fellowship is the purpose of The Progressive Club. Gift baskets to our elderly members in nursing homes is one of the initiatives of The Progressive Club.
The Nurses’ Fellowship leads the Health Ministry at Second Nazareth. The Fellowship provides nursing duty for Sunday worship services, regularly distributes health-information to the membership and sponsors an annual health fair. The ministry also participates in community health-related activities, projects, etc. through its affiliation with the Columbia Christian Health Care Auxiliary.
Leadership development and community service are the key ingredients in The Girl Scouts. Affiliated with the Congaree Girl Scouts, The Girl Scouts promote sisterhood and concern for others.
