played a central role in the development and stability of the Edgewood Neighborhood, a historic African-American community. The intertwining of the church with the community has been so complete that Second Nazareth Baptist Church is synonymous with Edgewood.

Second Nazareth Baptist Church is in the Edgewood Community of Columbia, SC in the vicinity of Benedict College, Providence Hospital and across the street from the Cecil Tillis Training Center of the Columbia Housing Authority.
From I-126: Travel into Columbia on to Elmwood Avenue to Bull Street (Mental Health Agency will be in front), turn right on to Bull Street and turn left at next traffic light onto Calhoun Street, continue to the bottom of the hill to the intersection of Calhoun and Harden Streets, turn right at the traffic light and an immediate left at the next traffic light onto Read Street. Turn left at the next traffic light onto Oak Street and then turn right at the 4-way Stop. Second Nazareth Baptist Church is on the right.
From I-20: Travel into Columbia on Two Notch Road (US 1). Two Notch Road will take you all the way to Elmwood Avenue--just look for the following landmarks: pass Columbia Mall on the right, pass Richland County Sheriff's Department on the right, continue traveling Two Notch Road pass CVS Pharmacy on the left, pass Kentucky Fried Chicken on the left and travel through intersection continuing on Two Notch Road; pass Crescent Hill Baptist Church/Cemetery on the right, pass Manigault-Hurley Funeral Home on the right. The next traffic light is at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Two Notch Road--travel through the light and the next street on your right is Elmwood Avenue. Turn right onto Elmwood Avenue. Travel three blocks. At the second stop sign you will see the church to your left.
